This position is a player-coach role with dual responsibilities for leading and managing the junior and senior Product Development staff within the US and contributing to Access and Delivery programs as a Senior Development Engineering leader.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Execute the strategic roadmap and tactical plan to ensure product objectives and deliverables are met.
Partner and collaborate cross-functionally (product management, research, engineering, clinical, and manufacturing and regulatory) to move new features, technology and products through product development and into the market.
Manage high performing teams and foster professional development of staff. Cultivate a success orientated, highly accountable team founded on the Abiomed Principles.
Provide technical leadership to a diverse group of engineering disciplines (mechanical, systems, test, and project management) through the development cycle, concept to commercialization.
Define and translate user needs into specific, well-written, quantifiable design input requirements. Analyze requirements for relevance and cohesiveness to deliver the product to market.
Hold or oversee system-level design reviews and contribute as an active independent reviewer.
Drive concept maturation, system trade-off analysis, functional prototype builds and feasibility demonstration, complete key performance features and control major technical risks.
Ensure clinical knowledge of cardiology procedures and techniques are incorporated into the design and development process. Embrace a responsiveness to the customer and commitment to Patients first.
BS in Mechanical Engineering or directly related scientific discipline, MS/Advanced degree desired.
8+ years of leading successful product development teams, providing hands on leadership & technical management, preferably in interventional based medical devices.
Strong people leader with an inspirational management style.
Execution & results driven, highly adaptable.
Demonstrated success working collaboratively with cross functional teams.
History of engaged problem solving and having an impact on complex environment.
Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly in a variety of settings.
