The Impella catheter systems are minimally invasive, cardiac assist devices designed to:

Directly unload the left ventricle
Reduce myocardial workload and oxygen consumption
Increase cardiac output and coronary and end-organ perfusion
The candidate will be involved in both software development and software test initiatives.  With defined requirements, the candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing and testing software tools such as log analysis tools that will help engineers do their work more efficiently. Typical software development life cycle process will be used, and the output will be properly documented to comply with FDA quality system regulations.

The student will:

Assist in Software algorithm development, embedded software development & implementation
Design, implement and test of software tools
Assist in software algorithm design and development
Prepare software design documentation
Conduct software tests for product design improvements
Provide input into process development and improvement

Junior, Senior, or Grad student pursuing a degree in computer engineering or electrical engineering, biomedical engineering :

Strong design, testing and analytical skills required (e.g. engineering and statistical analysis)
Proficient in C,  C++, python, shell, MATLAB, Simulink
Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience in signal processing a plus
Self motivated. Execute tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision
