About NSBE Boston Professionals

NSBE Boston professionals is a non-profit 501c (3) founded in 1988 that serves the greater Boston and MA area to help achieve the NSBE mission statement which is “ to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community”. We accomplish the statement by providing support for our pre-collegiate, collegiate, and professional membership levels .In addition while also creating a pipeline for minority talent and our corporate partners. The fire behind NSBE Boston’s Professionals impacts come from the executive board which works to bring events, opportunities, connections and impactful programs to our members and potential future members.

NSBE Boston Professionals has over 170 active professional members, a network of over 2800 professionals in MA, connections to over 20 NSBE Collegiate chapters in New England, and relations with 65 active high and middle school student members.

 

Internship Description

We’re looking for someone to help our executive board with administrative tasks to help the board succeed in their mission to help our numerous corporate partners and membership events.

Our ideal intern should be collaborative and willing to listen and take direction from the executive board to efficiently help achieve our programs and goals.

The work the intern will be handling will take place virtually and possibly in-person as we have started to return to in-person events. The successful intern will help us with document control with corporate partners, deliver on action items from the different board zones, and be able to later create creative content to assist the board. The executive board and respective zone leaders will train the intern to help on-board them for a smooth transition to assist with all the different tasks .The following tasks will be required for this role for our following zones, and more may appear as the year goes on.

General Requirements

Meet with the executive board and other zone groups via virtual meetings held weekly and bi-weekly.

Attend majority of events

Finance Zone: 

Help process refunds for events
Log invoices on monthly basis
Create and send thank you letters for corporate partners

Communication Zone:

Create flyers using Canva
Assist with emails using Mailchimp
Help increase presence on social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram)

Membership Zone:

Assist with booking venue facilities for events
Assist with set-up space for events.

Programs Zone: 

Create surveys after each program and engage membership feedback.
Synthesize and generate reports on membership, organize data from online job board to help identify areas of focus for membership and corporate partner needs. and initiate first meetings with sponsors.

 

Experience Required

This position would be ideal for an undergraduate, graduate college student or recent graduate who has participated in NSBE or NSBE Boston professional, but not limited to.

 

Skills Needed

Strong writing skills with a focus on accuracy and detail
Collaborative and team player
Highly organized
Social media management skills
Automation and analytics experience
Experience with outreach and multiple mediums to engage outside parties
Ability to use multitude of online software programs
Ability to use google suite and microsoft suite softwares such as (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
Exposure to NSBE Boston or an ERG at their company. Willing to collaborate with NSBE Partners and ERG partners.
Willing to learn and perform research for larger scale events and programs.
Able to attend most e-board meetings virtually and in-person hosted events.

 

Job Type

Part-time, Internship

Will be paid once a month for hours completed

Schedule

8 to 12 hours/ week. Subject to change depending on the board’s need.

Duration: Expected Start Early September 2022- August 2023.
