PerkinElmer’s in vivo imaging group does incredibly important work supporting research across disease models for cancer & cardiopulmonary, metabolic, and infectious disease. The R&D team is an interdisciplinary group that develops market leading products, instrumentation, software, and reagents that drive innovation. The technology is amazing – 2D & 3D reconstruction and visualization of luminescence, fluorescence, x-ray & ultrasound. The labs are located in Hopkinton MA at the junction of 90 & 495.
We are seeking a professional, practical, and hands-on Senior Systems Engineer to support new product development, support the transfer of product designs into manufacturing, lead sustaining engineering projects, and conduct root cause analysis. The candidate must understand the process-oriented engineering and manufacturing environment of a global company and feel comfortable in a cross functional team of engineers, scientists, marketing, and operations professionals. Projects will include generation of requirements, design & analysis, implementation of design improvements, verification & validation, support & leadership of design transfer and continuing engineering activities.
The candidate will need to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the system including its application, software, architecture, and hardware components and liaise between R&D and manufacturing to proactively address operational issues. Lead technical efforts for continuous improvement, sustaining, and manufacturing transfer activities related to new, recent, and well-established products
Lead or support planning activities, cost estimations, and cost down projects, collaborating with project management
Resolve component obsolescence issues
Collaborate and lead cross-functional teams including R&D, product management, quality, field service, sourcing, and manufacturing
Possess a thorough understanding of the product line’s technology, application, user experience, manufacturability, and serviceability
Contribute and participate in the design of new products
Develop and effectively communicate detailed plans, requirements, designs, and verification activities to implement long-term mechanical and/or electrical solutions using proven design methodology
Lead or create CAD models, drawings, prototypes, verification testing, and technical documentation
Develop test and assembly fixtures and tools; depending on the candidate’s background, this may include mechanical, electrical, firmware, and/or GUI design
Develop test protocols and acceptance criteria by statistically analyzing data
Conduct risk assessments with technical experts and other stakeholders
Use proven problem-solving approaches to investigate root cause
Lead or support verification & validation, FMEA and safety analysis
BS Degree in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or physics
5+ Years of Experience
2+ Years of CAD Software experience
2+ Years of mechanical and electrical components
