The Manager, Digital Merchandising will be responsible for driving the site personalization strategy roadmap for the Staples.com and StaplesAdvantage.com lines of business. This will include execution methods, site enhancements, and process improvements. They will be responsible for management of multiple highly visible key growth initiative, balancing the needs of the marketing and merchandising organizations, to deliver an optimized customer experience. They will do this by leveraging a strong understanding of ecommerce and personalization capabilities to ensure a world-class and innovative customer experience for Staples.com and Staplesadvantage.com. The Manager, Digital Merchandising will partner with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure corporate objectives are achieved while ensuring profitable sales growth.
What you’ll be doing:
This position represents an ideal role for candidates with a strong eCommerce background and/or those with 7 or more years of Marketing, Merchandising and/or Project management experience. This role requires an excellent collaborator, communicator, and manager with a strong bias towards data-based decision making. The successful candidate is a problem solver in a fast-moving and highly diverse environment and will be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and timeliness are not compromised. In addition to strong analytical skills, they must be adept at communicating findings to senior leadership in both verbal and presentation formats. They must be comfortable managing in a cross functional environment and have experience partnering with technical teams to deliver results.
Given the highly strategic and cross-functional nature of this role, successful applicants will possess a combination of project management and collaboration skills, structured strategic thinking, strong analytical ability, and a passion for new ideas.
Define the business requirements to shape product roadmaps; build & execute business cases for key growth initiatives including sales & margin goals and customer retention targets.
Influence design and scope of products and tools to ensure that end result meets business needs to improve customer experience.
Lead a cross functional project team (eCommerce Product Mgmt., Merchandising, Marketing).
Define key performance indicators (financial, customer, site) to measure performance/success.
Define and manage optimization of the programs through site analytics and testing and continuously refine personalization strategy.
Develop regular, impactful communication of progress and impact to all levels of the organization.
Identification and prioritization of incremental opportunities and innovation.
What you bring to the table:
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills as well as demonstrated experience in fact-based analysis, including the ability to persuasively present insights and recommendations to senior management.
Pro-active and self-motivated work style with proven ability to collaborate broadly with flexible, positive attitude to get results within a cross-functional team.
Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities with demonstrated track record of strong execution and experience partnering with technical teams to deliver results.
Strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making with the ability to break down complex problems and formulate plans.
Strategic thinking combined with ‘on your feet’ problem solving ability to break down complex problems and formulate plans.
Ability to build relationships with business partners and proactively assess needs of the business.
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications
7+ years of eCommerce, Marketing, Merchandising and/or Project management experience.
MS Office suite proficiency; excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications
BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing or other related field.
Understanding of merchandising sales and margin objectives.
