We are looking for a Senior User Experience Researcher to join our Staples Digital Solutions UX team.  We’re an established group of passionate and talented UX designers, focused on creating awesome customer experiences. We love what we do and have fun doing it together.   We partner closely with Engineering, Creative and Product for Staples websites and mobile applications globally.  We are looking for smart, curious and passionate people to join our team!

As part of a larger, fast paced, agile team you will be working on multiple projects supporting the ongoing transformation of Staples eCommerce experiences.  Your role will be to support the Product and UX teams by driving customer insight through applying the best research techniques for any given situation.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a thorough grounding in all aspects of User Experience Research, from initial needs discovery through concept validation and usability testing. You will uncover customer insights that inform the user experience and support the design of solutions that delight the customer and meet the needs of the business.

What you’ll be doing:

Support the UX and Product Management teams by driving the right research strategies for the situation, including competitive reviews, focus groups, heuristic evaluations, field studies, A/B tests, usability tests, surveys, cognitive walkthroughs, contextual inquiries, and benchmark studies
Collaborate with our CX and Marketing research organization on cross-team research
Moderate remote and in-person user research sessions
Plan and facilitate participant recruitment
Analyze research and present findings and recommendations to all levels of the organization
Organize research findings to serve as inputs for designs, task flows & requirements
Champion the use of research findings across the organization
Participate in cross-functional design brainstorms and be a customer advocate
Be on constant lookout for areas of opportunity to improve the customer experience
What you bring to the table:

Can synthesize information from a variety of sources or disciplines to arrive at a broader, deeper understanding of issues
Can establish clear, realistic timelines for goal accomplishment and coordinate planning efforts with other teams
Can act agilely and always look for the quickest way to get at the insights we need
Experience with online moderated and unmoderated testing tools
Can generate innovative ideas, solutions, and opportunities and find ways to apply them to business results
Can build coalitions or alliances to garner support for ideas and create a foundation for future influence
Can facilitate team and cross-team collaboration
Ability to handle multiple projects at once
Positive outlook and a sense of humor

Qualifications – External
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications

7 + years of related experience
Comfortable working in an agile work environment
Familiar with testing tools such as UserTesting, UserZoom, Lookback, or Optimal Workshop
Familiar with a broad range of research strategies and protocols
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications


Background in a retail/eCommerce environment
Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Prototyping skills in tools such as Axure, InVision, etc.
