BOSTON, MA, March 18, 2022 – NSBE Boston is pleased to announce a Visionary level partnership with Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), a leading mutual life insurance company with headquarters in Springfield, MA. NSBE Boston is also proud to announce MassMutual as a Circle of Excellence sponsor of the 2022 Inspire STEM Gala. Visionary and Circle of Excellence sponsors demonstrate a commitment to furthering the mission of NSBE at the highest contribution level through funding for scholarships, support of STEM outreach initiatives, programming, and career opportunities for NSBE and the community we serve.
Over the last decade, MassMutual has developed and evolved a long-term diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy that supports Black and African American employees with four main areas of focus:
- Education: Addressing racial inequalities and the achievement gap through school/college partnerships, training and career initiatives.
- Equitable Justice Outreach: Advocating for racial equality and justice.
- Enterprise Equity & Opportunity: Increasing Black-employee representation at all levels.
- Economic Empowerment: Addressing the racial wealth gap and income disparities by providing access to capital and resources to Black-owned businesses.
The partnership with NSBE Boston will further strengthen the company’s efforts to address racial equity and justice and overall DEI education and training. MassMutual is heavily invested in engaging and developing Black and African American talent and supporting this community, leading to greater levels of retention and representation.
“I’m excited for MassMutual to partner with NSBE Boston in support of its academic and professional development efforts that promote the success of Black engineers,” said Keia Cole, Head of Digital Experience, MassMutual. “NSBE’s goal of fostering a community dedicated to both educational and social contribution aligns with MassMutual’s principles of ‘living mutual’ and making a positive difference where we work and live.”
