NSBE Boston Announces Partnership with Repare Therapeutics

The National Society of Black Engineers Boston Professionals Announces Sponsorship with Repare Therapeutics to Support Equity & Inclusion in STEM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – July 11, 2023

BOSTON, MA – The National Society of Black Engineers Boston Professionals (NSBE Boston) is pleased to announce Repare Therapeutics, a leading clinical-stage precision oncology company dedicated to developing new therapeutics for cancer patients, as a Visionary level corporate partner for 2023. Repare Therapeutics was also an honored Circle of Innovation sponsor for NSBE Boston’s 2023 Inspire STEM Gala.

Headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Repare Therapeutics is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the STEM fields. The sponsorship with NSBE Boston will further strengthen Repare Therapeutics’ efforts to educate local students and build professional development opportunities for minorities in STEM. When asked about the sponsorship, Lloyd M. Segal, President and CEO, stated, “Repare Therapeutics understands that building a diverse and inclusive community of scientists and professionals fosters creativity and collaboration, which leads to more innovative solutions for patients. Our support of NSBE reflects our continued commitment to growing a diverse scientific ecosystem in the Boston area through career mentorship and training programs.”

Through this sponsorship, Repare Therapeutics provided support to NSBE Boston with $10,000 in scholarship funds, awarded to eligible students at the annual Inspire STEM Gala. The company will also collaborate on 2023 STEM initiatives, with career development programs aimed at both professionals and students to foster continued community engagement, including a Collegiate Career Discovery Series and the virtual Women in STEM event that took place in April.

“As an organization dedicated to advancing opportunities for Black professionals in STEM, we are excited to continue our partnership with Repare Therapeutics to promote equity and inclusion in the field of life sciences,” said Alexis Smith, NSBE Boston President. “This sponsorship will allow us to expand our outreach efforts to increase student interest in STEM fields of study and create more opportunities for NSBE Boston professionals to further their careers in the Greater Boston area.”

The renewed sponsorship with Repare Therapeutics kicked off with a sponsored event “Navigating the Boys Club” on April 27th. At the event, TEDx speaker Nikki Innocent shared valuable career tips to a gathering of NSBE Boston members, promoting conversation around how to successfully navigate corporate environments as a female/minority professional.
