[BOSTON, September 21, 2023] — NSBE Boston is thrilled to announce that Louvere Walker-Hannon, our very own Programs Chair, will be honored with the prestigious Boston University College of Engineering Distinguished Alumni Award. This recognition celebrates Louvere’s outstanding contributions to AI, data science, and STEM advocacy.

Louvere Walker-Hannon is renowned for her role as a leading figure in AI and data science, providing technical guidance and direction to her team of application engineers at MathWorks. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering and a Master’s degree in geographic information technology.

With over two decades of experience, Louvere has excelled in multiple engineering roles, showcasing her adaptability and dedication.

Her contributions extend beyond her professional achievements. Louvere is a sought-after speaker at STEM conferences, including the Grace Hopper Celebration and Women in Data Science. She was a keynote speaker at the Black in AI workshop during NeurIPS 2021.

Louvere’s commitment to STEM advocacy is unwavering. She actively engages with organizations such as Black Girls CODE, SWE, NSBE, and WiDS, earning accolades like the SWE WE Local 2022 Engaged Advocate Award.

Beyond her professional commitments, Louvere is a tireless volunteer, dedicating her spare time to advocate for STEM youth outreach.
