FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 10, 2022

BOSTON, MA – NSBE Boston is pleased to announce a Visionary Level partnership with Mayflower Wind, a Massachusetts-based renewable energy company that is focused on delivering clean offshore wind energy to Massachusetts and New England.

Through its partnership with NSBE Boston, Mayflower Wind aims to uplift and engage with black students and professionals to strengthen the company’s efforts to educate students and create career and professional development opportunities for minorities in STEM.

“Mayflower Wind is honored to partner with NSBE Boston Professionals to ensure we grow a diverse offshore wind workforce here in Massachusetts,” said Michael Brown, CEO of Mayflower Wind. “Over the next decade, as we work to bring clean energy to New England, Mayflower Wind and NSBE Boston together, will seek to ensure equal opportunities for Black students and professionals to gain the education, training and professional development needed so they can actively participate in the renewable energy future of our country. The work Mayflower will do with NSBE Boston is vital to the industry and more importantly a critical component of helping to stem climate change and create environmental justice for all.”

Through this partnership, Mayflower Wind will provide support to NSBE Boston at the Visionary Level. Through this sponsorship, the company will collaborate on 2022 STEM initiatives with professional & career development programs (aimed at both professionals and students), mentoring and community engagement programs

“On behalf of NSBE Boston Professionals, I want to say thank you to all the members who contributed to make this partnership possible. I am personally thrilled for what this partnership represents to historically underrepresented communities, and the positive impact that this offshore wind project will make in the greater Boston region. I look forward to serving as a liaison and supporting community outreach efforts, side by side with Mayflower Wind and NSBE Boston Professionals.” Luis E. Horton – Partnerships Lead

With more than 30 years of providing channels of opportunity for academic and career advancement to the Black/African American communities in Massachusetts, NSBE Boston has a membership of Black Professionals spanning the New England area.

To kick off this partnership, Mayflower and NSBE Boston will explore ways to promote the education of black engineers to prepare them to revolutionize climate change and pursue careers in renewable energy.
