Dudley Vision “SkyLab”
The City of Boston selected The Venture Café Foundation to operate the Roxbury Innovation Center in the new Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building in Dudley Square. The approximately 3,000-square-foot Center will be located in the new headquarters of the Boston Public Schools (BPS), and aims to encourage collaboration, bold thinking, and new business development. In addition, the City has selected SkyLab to provide community-connected programming services in the Bolling Building’s common areas, and to collaborate with the City, Boston Public Schools (BPS), and Venture Café Foundation to help fulfill the vision of the Roxbury Innovation Center (RIC).
SkyLab aims to generate an innovation-based economic and cultural renaissance in Roxbury. Skylab provides educational and hands-on opportunities for the residents of Roxbury to learn about and use the latest technologies, strategies and business skills required to launch new ventures or sustain existing ones. Deeply rooted in the community, SkyLab creates an intersection between the people who live and work in Roxbury, existing businesses in the Dudley Square area and the high growth tech industries that surround them. We collaborate with established training, technical resources and providers to create a continuum of services and supports from high school to successful business. SkyLab plans to use the RIC to educate, activate and incubate participants and their ideas.
